This is an anniversary year for the manga Rurouni Kenshin and just as I started to concept this piece came the news that a new anime has been greenlit.

So my homage became a throwdown challenge: ANIMATE JINCHUU ARC!! And seriously, I want it to be like 52 episodes xD.

And yeah, it's sick to do group shots, but those who have been in the Kenshin fandom with me these many years know I can't stay away from group shots. I used to draw at least one kenshin group shot every year, but haven't for a while. So... this is dedicated to all y'all for better or worse.

This wasn't going to be so primary colored here, but going up in number of characters from this pic ([link]) was really awkward. So I decided to keep everything flat and try to reduce the confusion by going flat style. Anyhoo. ENJOY.
Drawn and colored in Painter!

I really miss your RK fanart...and I love group shots! I find it really cool that you made each color scheme according to character archetype :D

ah yeah! I actually changed the coloring scheme though for the print... mostly Kenshin and Enishi are in regular color but everyone else is kind of blending back into the background....

How are you doing? Are you back in school?

I don't get to keep the commission work that I draw; that goes to the customers, but I could take photos of them...which I don't lol!

During "free time", or when no one wants a caricature/portrait done (those are considered slow days, so yes extremely extended free time), I could paint whatever I want, keep it, and still get paid for doing that...or as long as I'm physically there :XD:. Actually, I don't have to be painting during those times, if hardly anyone wants to get a caricature/portrait...I could actually study some school stuff, or read some books during those times, but I had to do it conspicuously so that no authorities would catch me doing something non-work related LOL! But you know, they could mistakenly think that I'm sketching something. Yes, you could bring your sketch book there and it's okay :XD:

Sometimes and whenever I want when I'm not painting someone, I'd hide behind a really big cart and go on my cell phone to text LOL!!!

ah that's cool! So they pay you hourly? That's really neat...

And I'm assuming the supplies are taken care of too!
Wow - what a great fun job xD

yah! That's what I think too, although I still look forward to a slightly cleaned up modern look to the character designs...
